Twenty-three-year-old Dane Reynolds has turned the surfing world upside-down, almost by accident. By 2004, surfers like Andy Irons (and later Kelly Slater) had pegged the Ventura, California local as the “best free-surfer in the world,” and videos like First Chapter (2006) and Quiksilver’s Young Guns series (see clip below) only solidified the claim.
